Project Description
The Global Adaptation Mapping Initiative (GAMI) originated from discussions among adaptation researchers during the IPCC AR6 process. Many of us recognized a lack of comprehensive synthesis of adaptation literature and insights in climate assessments. This led to the realization of a growing need for systematic synthesis to address key questions: Are we adapting? To what extent? Is adaptation reducing risk? GAMI was established with the aim of assembling a global team of passionate and curious adaptation researchers who volunteered their time for collective synthesis efforts, despite lacking funding. Our results, published in peer-reviewed scientific papers, were intended to inform the IPCC AR6 process. The adaptation literature database created through this initiative is accessible for GAMI students and researchers to use in future publications.
